Paragliding is the simplest and the purest form of flying. Do you ever dream of flying – making lazy circles in the sky like a seagull or a hawk?  Soaring above the hills, villages or towns, you can explore exotic locations from the air.

Paragliders were developed from freefall parachutes and have been refined to make them easy to fly with the best possible performance whilst keeping them small enough to carry in a backpack. As you take off with the canopy above your head, you feel the irresistible freedom of the skies.

We’re talking about paragliding – nonmotorized, foot-launched flying with an inflatable wing. Enthusiasts call it the simplest form of human flight. Using air currents and shifting their own body weight, paragliders can fly to heights of 15,000 feet (4,572 meters) with their paragliding sails. You can’t beat the view, and paragliders find the solitude incredibly peaceful.

You can experience and enjoy a sense of power and freedom.

5 Basic steps of Paragliding

  1. Remember that one of the basics of paragliding is the ability to stay on the wind line that you have chosen. This is one place where the knowledge of paragliding comes into play. The wind line inflates the kite and when placed in the center of the kite keeps it evenly inflated.
  2. Keep the wind aimed directly at your back as though it blows through you and into the kite. When done properly, the kite inflates evenly. Note that if it is misplaced, the one side inflates and the other side collapses.
  3. Make sure you are on the wind line by laying out the kite. This helps you to develop the familiarity of paragliding by opening up the canopy totally and you’re ready to launch. This builds your wall so you can grab both sets of risers in your hands.
  4. Pull the A riser on the outside to control the front of the kite once you feel a little wind. Immediately follow by pulling your D riser on the other side of the kite to let the wind out. Continue to practice building the wall.
  5. Maintain pressure on your wing at the launch. Adjust for the wind condition by running if the wind is low and almost braking with your feet in a high wind condition. Learn how to maintain pressure so you can get lift off by adjusting your speed.
